Floarea Pastelui – Anemone nemorosa – Wood anemone

This flower names Floarea Pastelui – in translation, Easter Flower – blossoms right around Christian Easter in Romania (hence the name; in some regions people call it Pastita). We usually go to the woods to pick a few flowers and decorate the Easter table with it.

There is also a yellow version of the same flower, but in the woods near our home I have never seen it.

In English, it is called Wood anemone.

The plant is poisonous, according to some online sources, while other say it is used as a medicine. In our village, people only use it for decorative purposes.

Scientific name: Anemone nemorosa
