Stejarel/ Veronica chamaedrys/Germander Speedwell

This beautiful, blue, small flower is known in Romania as Stejarel. The name is the diminutive for the Romanian word for oak tree (Stejar). It is perennial and grows on meadows.

It blossoms in April – May. We have lots of these in our backyard and on the fields. in English, it is called Germander Speedwell.

Scientific name: Veronica chamaedrys

It is a medicinal herb (although not used as such in my region), used in Austrian medicine as tea for nervous system disorders, respiratory tract, cardiovascular system, and metabolism.
